Nutrition & Fitness 101
Knowing the basics about nutrition and fitness helps you to better appreciate the importance of healthy eating and proper exercise. But, you probably don’t have the time to read through the enormous amount of literature and studies on the subjects. So instead, join a registered dietitian and a degreed personal trainer as they discuss the latest trends of nutrition and fitness, answer questions and dispel myths. This class is a must for all new members!

Recipes and Weight Loss Secrets from a Big “Loser”
Chef/owner Shawn McCoy of The Brown Dog Café (which happens to be located right across the street from the Pavilion) recently lost 65 pounds. That’s no small task for someone who is around food all of the time. Join Chef McCoy as he demonstrates a variety of delicious and healthy recipes from his restaurant while he shares his tips for creating a healthier lifestyle.

Improve Your Health with Pets
If you are a pet owner, you probably already know—animals can help you stay well! Pets just don’t make you feel good; your favorite animal can actually make you healthy and stay that way. Fellow Pavilion member, Verne Fairhurst, DVM of the Montgomery Animal Hospital will discuss the many ways pets are good for your health by sharing his personal and professional experiences. Learn how caring for a pet can improve your physical, mental and emotional well-being.

“Catering” to a Healthy New Year with Creations by Melody
By popular demand, we welcome back Paul and Melody Jaworski, owners of Creations by Melody (located in Madeira) to share their culinary wisdom. They are perfect examples of how to eat well, enjoy delicious foods and improve your health, all at the same time. Together they have lost over 200 pounds since joining the TriHealth Fitness and Health Pavilion. Allow them to show you how to create wonderful healthy recipes to start off the New Year.

LifeSteps Weight Management Program –NEW!
Take the FIRST STEP towards managing your weight – now and forever. We are pleased to offer LIFESTEPS, a proven weight management program that incorporates current medical research with physical activity and group support. This NEW 12 week program begins with an initial assessment and then provides ongoing guidance for healthy eating, increasing physical activity, and strategies for successful behavior change. An emphasis on personal choice, responsibility, and accountability sets this behavioral approach program apart from other weight management methods. This course will be taught by a LifeSteps-certified registered dietitian and includes an individual nutrition consultation as well as a private one-hour session with a personal trainer.

Annual Chocolate Lovers’ Cooking Class
Are you a chocoholic? Recent studies suggest that foods such as dark chocolate may decrease your risk for developing heart disease and increase your life expectancy. Yes, you can have your chocolate cake and eat it too! Learn how to prepare sumptuous chocolate creations that also happen to be healthy. Pavilion member and gourmet cook Nata Etherton and home economist Annie King join Pavilion dietitian Julie Shapero to share their favorite chocolate recipes. You’ll be all set for Valentine’s Day! Recognizing Symptoms of a Heart Attack*
Join us for a heart screening and physician lecture that can help you identify your heart risk and take action to reduce your risk of a heart attack. Learn the signs and symptoms of a heart attack and what you need to do to be prepared should the unthinkable happen to you or someone you love. Cardiologist Simon C. Jung, MD from The Cardiology Center of Cincinnati will be our physician speaker.

Ladies’ Night at the Pavilion!
Join us for a relaxing, interactive and entertaining evening that is all about you! Start the evening by learning to belly dance, an ancient dance form that has been around for thousands of years.
